On a phone
Five minutes, once. After that your file lives on your phone and every new question is one attachment away.
1Save the file out of the email
Android: open the email, tap the attachment, then the download arrow — it lands in Files → Downloads. iPhone: tap and hold the attachment, choose Save to Files, pick On My iPhone → Downloads.
2Open ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini
Any one of them, from the App Store or Play Store. Free plans work and read the same file.
3Start a new chat and attach the file
Tap the + or paperclip next to the message box, choose Files — not Photos — and pick your
.mdfile.4Say hello
One word is enough. It asks you three short questions, one at a time, then starts reading.
Five minutes, once. After that every new question is one attachment away.
Attach the file — do not paste it. A file this size pasted into the message box gets cut off, and a cut-off file gives cut-off answers.
If your mail app shows the file as text on screen instead of as an attachment, forward the email to yourself and save it from the forwarded copy.
Do this once: make a Project
This is the single biggest improvement available to you, and on two of the four apps it is free. A Project holds your file permanently, so every chat you start inside it already knows your chart — no re-attaching, and your answers stop being a series of cold starts.
ChatGPT
FreeProjects are free. Put the file in once and every chat inside the project can see it.
- Tap Projects, then New project. Call it “My chart”.
- Open it, add your
.mdfile to the project’s files. - Start every future chat from inside that project. Never attach the file again.
- Free accounts allow 5 files per project — one chart file is plenty.
Claude
FreeProjects are free, up to five of them, each with its own knowledge base.
- Tap Projects → New project.
- Add your file to the project knowledge.
- Start chats inside the project. The file is always in view.
Gemini

Do I need to pay for ChatGPT or Claude?
Free plans work and read the same file. What a paid plan buys is working memory: more of your file stays in view while it answers, so a long session joins up instead of becoming a series of separate readings, and you restart the chat far less often. Worth it if you settle in for hours. Not worth it to start.
What to do when the chat gets long
Phone chats have less room than desktop ones. After a long session the assistant may start forgetting the beginning. Say “wrap up” and it will write you a short summary note: what you asked, what it concluded, what is still open. Save that note, start a new chat, attach your file and the note, and carry on exactly where you stopped.
Asking again tomorrow
You never need the email again. Open a new chat, attach the same file, ask. Some people keep one chat per topic — work in one, relationship in another — which keeps each thread short and sharp.
Two things worth knowing
- The assistant is instructed to ask you about your own life when the chart could mean two things. Answering makes the reading sharper; it is not a trick question.
- Early on it will ask how sure you are of your birth time. Say honestly. Within five minutes changes nothing; half an hour changes some things, and it will tell you which ones.
