Same file, more room. Long answers stay readable, sessions run longer before they need restarting, and you can keep your notes beside the chat.
1Save the file somewhere you will find it
Download the attachment. It goes to Downloads — move it to Documents/Astrodai. Keep the
.mdending exactly as it is.2Open your assistant
chatgpt.com, claude.ai or gemini.google.com in a browser, or the desktop app. They work identically.
3Drag the file into the message box
Straight from your folder into a new chat. The paperclip button does the same thing.
4Say hello
It asks three short questions, one at a time — your language, what you want to look at, how deep to go — then reads.
Windows and Mac are the same here; the only difference is where Downloads lives.
Do not rename the extension. It must stay.md. If Windows hides extensions and the file looks like it has none, turn on View → File name extensions in File Explorer.
Can I just read the file myself?
You do not need to. If you are curious: Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on Mac — but expect a wall of coded rows. That is deliberate. The chart data is compressed so the assistant can hold all of it in view while it answers. The parts written for you are in plain English at the top.
Do this once: make a Project
This is the single biggest improvement available to you, and on two of the four apps it is free. A Project holds your file permanently, so every chat you start inside it already knows your chart — no re-attaching, and your answers stop being a series of cold starts.
ChatGPT
FreeProjects are free. Put the file in once and every chat inside the project can see it.
- Tap Projects, then New project. Call it “My chart”.
- Open it, add your
.mdfile to the project’s files. - Start every future chat from inside that project. Never attach the file again.
- Free accounts allow 5 files per project — one chart file is plenty.
Claude
FreeProjects are free, up to five of them, each with its own knowledge base.
- Tap Projects → New project.
- Add your file to the project knowledge.
- Start chats inside the project. The file is always in view.
Gemini

Getting better answers out of a session
- Ask about one area at a time. A single question about work gets a better answer than a request for everything at once.
- Mention the decision actually in front of you and its date. The file has period-by-period timing and cannot use it unless it knows what you are timing.
- When it asks you something about your own life, answer. It asks when the chart could point two ways, and your answer decides which.
- Say “wrap up” at the end of a long session for a summary note to carry into the next chat.
- A paid plan holds more of the file in view at once, which is what makes a long session feel like one reading rather than several. A free plan answers any single question just as well — start there.
Keeping your reading as notes
Some assistants can read and write files in a folder on your computer. If yours can, point it at a folder of your own and it will write each answer out as a note and read the earlier ones when it answers the next question.
