What kind of text this is
Named, self-identified, located author (king of Vyagrapada region). Signed introduction stating method.
What it contributed
rahu-essence — novel. Rahu = ego (ahamkara), in the essence verse. BPHS and Brihat Jataka both omit the nodes.
Fills a real gap. Ketu still has no essence in any of four texts - now a notable silence.
curation-is-traditional — novel. Author states he kept the useful essence from the Yavanas and rejected the un-useful portions.
Classical precedent for pruning. The corpus was assembled by open curation, by authors who said so in prefaces.
essence-scales-with-strength — novel. Essence expression scales with planetary strength - Saturn explicitly excepted.
Directly usable on a reading, and the Saturn exception is the interesting half.
greek-transmission — refinement. Cites ‘Vriddha Yavanas’ by name as the source of the two-planet yoga corpus.
Completes the transmission chain with a citation at every step, back to the Vrddhayavanajataka.
moon-essence — restatement. Moon = mind, third witness.
Closes the question opened by Phaladeepika. Majority-attested, dissent noted.
