retrospective-has-no-failure-condition — novel. 122k words of worked famous charts with zero self-recorded failures.
Names the genre problem: retrospective reading cannot be wrong, so it cannot be evidence.
transmission-denial-by-ridicule — contradiction. Denies Greek transmission by ridiculing Greek astronomy rather than addressing the evidence.
Completes a 1,500-year arc: the classical texts admitted the debt and demoted the creditor; the modern populariser kept the demotion and dropped the admission. The confident denial is the LATE position, not the ancient one.
speculative-vs-authentic — novel. Classifies his own ancient charts as ‘speculative’ and footnotes each.
A real methodological contribution worth crediting - and it licenses us to set those charts aside as evidence.
What we do not carry from it
- introduction — Not evidence about transmission - ridicule of the source (Anaxagoras on the sun) plus an accusation of bad faith. And it inverts fifteen centuries of classical practice: Yavanajataka, Brihat Jataka, Brihat Samhita and the Surya Siddhanta variant all ADMIT the debt while demoting the creditor. The modern populariser keeps the demotion and drops the admission.
