Kundli matching or marriage timing: which do you need?
They answer opposite questions. One scores a pair you already have; the other reads when partnership consolidates in your own chart. Picking the wrong one wastes the reading.

The short answer: they answer opposite questions. Matching evaluates a pair you already have. Timing reads when partnership consolidates in your own chart, with no second person involved. If you buy the wrong one you will get a competent answer to a question you were not asking.
What each one actually does
Kundli matching
- Needs two people’s birth details, and both people’s consent
- Produces a compatibility assessment, often as a score
- Answers: should this pairing proceed?
- Useful when a specific match is on the table
Marriage timing
- Needs only your own birth details
- Produces dated windows and the placements behind them
- Answers: when does partnership become likely for me?
- Useful when there is no specific person yet
Which one you need
- A proposal is in front of you and the families are asking — matching is the thing being requested, and refusing it outright rarely helps the situation.
- There is nobody specific yet — matching has nothing to work on. Timing is the only one of the two that can say anything.
- You are worried about delay — timing, and specificallythe delay factors in your own chart.
- You want to understand a relationship you are already in — neither, really. Both are decision tools; neither describes a living relationship well.
What matching was originally for
The point worth knowing: the scoring system most matching is based on was built for a world of arranged introductions between strangers, as a screening device when nobody had any other information. Used that way it is a reasonable heuristic. Used to veto a relationship two people have already built, it is being asked to do a job it was never designed for —we went through this in detail separately.
The consent point, which is not negotiable here. Matching requires reading someone else’s chart. We will not write about a person who has not agreed to be read — which means a matching product cannot be built out of one buyer’s order form, and any seller who does it from one set of details is reading a stranger without asking.
If you want both
Plenty of people legitimately do: timing for themselves, matching when a specific proposal arrives. They are separate readings and should be bought as separate things, from whoever does each properly. We only do the first — the marriage file reads your own chart for partnership and its timing, and the order page lists exactly what is in it.
